ISU recognizes outstanding faculty
Ann Rider, professor of German and chair of the Department of Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics, is this year’s recipient of the President’s Medal, Indiana State University’s highest award for faculty.
Rider has given exceptional scholarship, teaching, and service to Indiana State University for 30 years.
In addition to being a faculty member and department chair, she has served as associate dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and chair of the University College Council, which oversees Foundational Studies.
Five other faculty members are honored for their professional and university contributions.
Amy Ash of the Department of English and Joseph West of the Department of Chemistry and Physics were selected this year for the Caleb Mills Distinguished Teaching Award.
Kathleen Kincade of the Department of English and Matthew Bergbower of the Department of Political Science are receiving the Theodore Dreiser Distinguished Research and Creativity Award.
Lindsey Eberman is this year’s recipient of the Faculty Award for Community-Based Learning and Scholarship.
The award was established in 2007 to recognize outstanding faculty who have made serving the community an integral part of their academic goals and activities through community-based learning activities and through scholarship focused on community issues.
“I’m always grateful for, and proud of our amazing faculty,” said Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Christopher J. Olsen.
“It’s a privilege to be part of a faculty that is so dedicated to students, in particular. We are a university that puts students first, something that we rightfully celebrate each year.”
“We have a faculty that is filled with world-class scholars and researchers, but who also work closely with undergraduate students.
It’s one of the things that sets ISU apart from other institutions, and this year’s award recipients are terrific examples of those priorities.
Faculty are who make our academic programs of such high quality, which ultimately is the reason that students come to ISU.”
The awards will be presented at the Faculty Recognition Banquet on Thursday.
