Sycamore Season Breakdown
Rivas was one of two true freshmen on the Indiana State roster to qualify for the NCAA East Preliminary Round this season, with his performance at the MVC Outdoor Championships earning him a spot. Not only did Rivas earn a spot in the field in the 110m hurdles, he also advanced to the quarterfinals and finished his debut campaign with the Blue and White in 22nd. His personal-best time of 13.83 was run at regionals and placed him seventh in program history in the event. Rivas also owns the ninth-best mark in school history in the indoor 60m hurdles at 7.92.
Porter became the 10th Sycamore in program history to earn multiple outdoor All-America honors after being named an Honorable Mention All-American at this year's NCAA Outdoor Championships. She concluded her sophomore season ranked in the top 10 in program history in the triple jump (second) and 100m hurdles (10th). She swept the triple jump titles at the MVC Indoor and Outdoor Championships, while also winning the long jump title at the indoor championships and earning all-conference honors in the 60m hurdles (indoor) and 100m hurdles (outdoor). Porter was named the MVC Most Valuable Athlete of the Indoor Championships, the MVC Indoor Freshman of the Year and the MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Year. She also earned the MVC's Elite 17 Award for both the indoor and outdoor championships, which goes to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA who scored at the championships.
Reese on the World Stage
Reese has been one of the top throwers in the United States in recent years, finishing fourth at the 2021 USATF Grand Prix and seventh at the US Olympic Trials last season.
