Indiana State University Athletics recently issued the following announcement.
Sycamores Move Up the Board on Final Day of the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate to Finish Fifth
With a second-round 303, the Indiana State women's golf team secured a fifth-place finish at the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate Tuesday afternoon in Tennessee. ISU finished the tournament just three shots behind third-place North Alabama (611) and two shots behind Radford (612).
It was All-MVC player Lauren Green who had the best overall performance during the event, shooting a second-round 72 (+1) to move up the leaderboard and finish tied for third overall. The Merseyside, England product shot one-under through the front nine before finishing her day with a team-high four birdies. Green is coming off a first-round 75 (+4) and led the Sycamores with five birdies over the 36-hole event.
Sophomore Kristen Hobbs was solid for the second-straight day, notching a 77 (+6) while Molly Lee went for a 78 (+7) Tuesday. After a challenging opening round, Madison Branum turned things around and was key to ISU moving up the team leaderboard two spots. The junior was nine shots better than her Monday scorecard with a second-round 76. Chelsea Morrow also improved in the second round with a score of 79 (+8).
Findlay, which entered play ranked No. 6 in the nation, claimed the team title after placing three golfers in the top-5 overall. FU shot +25 overall and was 16 shots better than No. 16 Carson-Newman (+41). Gabby Woods (Findlay) and Jahnavi Prakhya (North Alabama) tied for the individual lead after shooting identical scores (72-74=146) on both days.
