Indiana State University Athletics recently issued the following announcement.
Peterson Named MVC Player of the Week
Indiana State outfielder Bella Peterson was named MVC Player of the Week for the week of April 11, the league office announced on Tuesday.
The Plainfield, Ill. native went 8-for-12 in four games, racking up four doubles, two home runs and five RBIs to go along with four runs scored. She recorded a multi-hit outing in all three games against Drake including a three-run blast which proved to be the deciding factor in the Sycamores 4-3 win over the Bulldogs. Her four doubles gave her 16 for the 2022 season which puts her in a tie for third-most in the nation.
This is Peterson's first Player of the Week award but her second career weekly MVC award as she won Newcomer of the Week for the week of April 2, 2018.
During conference action, Peterson ranks first in average (.455), slugging percentage (1.000), OPS (1.519) and doubles (9). Across all games this season, her .390 average, 48 hits and 16 doubles all rank first among MVC hitters.
The two-time All-MVC First Team selection became the Sycamores all-time leader in RBIs and at-bats earlier this season.
