Sycamores recognized with AVCA Team Academic Award

Indiana State volleyball was recognized Monday for its work in the classroom, as the Sycamores were selected as a recipient of the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award.

The award, which was earned by more than 1,200 collegiate and high school volleyball teams this season, honors programs that maintain a year-long GPA of 3.3 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

This season marked the 24th consecutive campaign that Indiana State earned the AVCA Team Academic Award. The Sycamores own the longest active streak in the NCAA. ISU is tied with NAIA institution Concordia University (Neb.) for the longest active streak by any college, regardless of division.

Indiana State's 24 AVCA Team Academic Awards are tied with Morehead State for the most in Division I. The Sycamores have earned the award in every season dating back to 1998-99.

The AVCA Team Academic Award added another honor in the classroom for the Sycamores this season. Melina Tedrow was previously named an Honorable Mention Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete following the 2021 campaign.
