Sycamores announce 2022-23 non-conference schedule

Sycamores announce 2022-23 non-conference schedule

Indiana State head women's basketball coach Chad Killinger unveiled the Sycamores' 2022-23 non-conference schedule Tuesday afternoon. The nine-game slate features seven home contests at the Hulman Center and a pair games against teams that reached the postseason last year.

"After a very productive summer, we are excited to get back to work to continue preparing for a non-conference schedule that we believe will have us ready to compete at a high level once Missouri Valley Conference play begins," Killinger said. "We've added an exhibition game to the mix this year and with seven of our nine non-conference games at home, there will be plenty of opportunities for our fans to come out to the Hulman Center and see us in person. Scheduling two less non-conference games over the same time period as last year proved to be a bit difficult, but we did our best to put ourselves in a position to be able to use those breaks in the most productive manner possible."

Fans will have a chance to catch the Sycamores in action before the regular season starts, as Indiana State will host Lincoln University (Mo.) in an exhibition November 3. The Sycamores last hosted an exhibition prior to the 2017-18 season.

Indiana State's season opener is set for November 7, as the Sycamores will welcome Saint Louis to the Hulman Center to kick off the 2022-23 campaign. The contest with the Billikens will be the first of back-to-back home games to begin the season, as Indiana State will remain at home for a November 16 clash with Central Michigan.

The Sycamores' first road game of the season sees the Sycamores head to West Lafayette November 20 for a clash with Purdue. The Boilermakers reached the second round of the WNIT last season. Indiana State will also make a trip to Western Michigan December 10, with home games against Ohio (November 26) and Chicago State (November 29) sandwiched between the two away contests. Ohio also made an appearance in the WNIT, falling in the first round.

Indiana State closes its non-conference slate with three straight home games, beginning with a December 14 contest against Western Kentucky. The Sycamores will also play Purdue Fort Wayne (December 18) and Detroit Mercy (December 21) at the Hulman Center before turning their attention to Missouri Valley Conference play.

The remainder of Indiana State's schedule will be released at a later date once the Missouri Valley Conference finalizes the 20-game conference schedules for each member institution.
