MVC Action Begins as Sycamores Host Belmont Friday Night

Indiana State women's soccer will begin their Missouri Valley Conference schedule on Friday night as new member Belmont comes to Memorial Stadium for a 7 p.m. ET matchup.

Friday's contest will stream live on ESPN and live stats will be available at GoSycamores.com.

The Sycamores last played on September 8 on the road against UT Martin, falling 2-0 but turned in their highest shot total of the season with 16 attempts led by CeCe Wahlberg who had four.

Mackenzie Kent leads the offense with 10 shot attempts on the season and is one of three Indiana State players to find the back of the net with Chloe Tesny and Katie Yankey also scoring during the non-conference slate.

Belmont comes to Terre Haute for the first time as a member of the MVC but this will mark the Bruins' third ever trip to Memorial Stadium. Indiana State lost in Nashville in 2014 but was victorious at home in 2015. The two teams played to a 1-1 draw in their most recent matchup in 2019.

The Bruins enter the match at 2-1-3 and have held opponents to only three goals in 2022. Offensively, Belmont is led by Anna Sweeney who has scored twice while Shae Doherty, Leah Firsdon and Maci Pekmezian each have one goal apiece. Primary goalkeeper Sarah Doyle has recorded 23 saves thus far.

Indiana State will next host Evansville on Thursday, September 22 with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.
