Sycamores fifth in the field through first two rounds at Loyola Parkinson Invitational

Indiana State sits fifth overall in the field at the Loyola Parkinson Invitational as the Sycamores closed out the first two rounds at The Merit Club.

The Sycamores (+67) turned in a two-round score 329-314 to sit 21 strokes back of Drake (+46) for fourth in the field heading into Tuesday's final day. The field saw clear skies with weather in the high 60s/low 70s in Indiana State's third tournament of the fall slate.

Freshman Yang Tai (+16) leads the Sycamores in her first tournament of the 2022-23 season. The Beijing, China native turned in a two-round score 80-80 to sit in a three-way tie for 18th in the field. Tai posted her first birdie of the season in the second round on the 18th hole to highlight her day.

A trio of Sycamores sit tied for 21st overall in the field with Chelsea Morrow (+17), Kristen Hobbs (+17), and Briana LeMaire (+17) all sitting one stroke back of their teammate through the opening day.

Morrow went 84-77 over her first 36 holes with four birdies over her two rounds. Hobbs went 83-78 with birdies on the 12th and 18th holes on the day. LeMaire posted an 82-79 featuring a trio of birdies over her two rounds on Monday.

Molly Lee (+21) sits tied for 27th in the field after a first day score 84-81. Lee posted a pair of birdies in each of the two rounds and went under par on the first hole in each.

A trio of Sycamores competed individually on the day with Iyoun Chew (+25), Grace Welty (+26), and Eliza Baker (+28) all taking on the field.

Indiana State is back in action tomorrow morning for the final round of the Loyola Parkinson Invitational on Tuesday, October 11, at The Merit Club. The shotgun start is set to tee off at 8:30 a.m.
