Smith and Boles claim MVC Swimming and Diving weekly honors

Indiana State's Zoe Smith and Raine Boles took Missouri Valley Conference swimming and diving weekly honors as announced by the conference office on Tuesday morning.

Smith claimed Diver of the Week honors for the second time in the 2022-23 season, while Boles became the second Indiana State athlete to earn Freshman of the Week recognition following ISU's performance against Indianapolis.

Zoe Smith set a new ISU mark in the 1M diving event and surpassed her previous career-high in the 3M diving event to lead the Sycamores this past weekend against Indianapolis. Smith's score 290.55 shattered the previous mark set by Bailey Betzer (278.83) set against Butler in 2021 and was the second-highest mark in the conference this season.

The Raleigh, N.C. native followed up with the second-best 3M score in ISU history with her total 282.68 passing her previous season-high (270.95). She previously earned Valley Diver of the Week honors on November 9 following her performance against Missouri State and Miami University.

Boles becomes the second ISU freshman to claim the weekly honor joining Peyton Heagy who claimed the honor on October 26. Boles topped the Sycamores in both the 200 Fly and the 100 Freestyle on her way to one of the strongest performances to date by the freshman.

The Lakeland, Tenn. native turned in the third-fastest time in the Missouri Valley this season in the 50 Fly posting a time of 25.45 to open the event. She followed up with a career-best 2:05.83 in the 200 Fly to crack the top-10 ISU performance list in winning the event. Boles wrapped up the day topping the field in the 100-yard Freestyle in 51.95 to enter ISU's top-10 performance list once again.
